Students and staff at Sutton College celebrated International Women’s Day in various ways this week.

International Women’s Day is celebrated on March 8th each year and is a special day for women everywhere, celebrating women of the past, present, and future generations who have fought for change in gender equality and funding female-focused charities. The theme for International Women’s Day this year is ‘ Inspire Inclusion’ to represent a world where difference is valued and celebrated.

At Sutton College students and staff have been getting involved in marking the day. Throughout the week, the Beauty department have been manicuring, massaging and treating students and staff. Treatments have been organised to raise donations for Sutton Women’s Centre and Max the Brave, 2 charities close to the students’ hearts and the team raised over £400 over the week!

In addition, many students and staff had their photographs taken to be part of a fantastic collage to celebrate the day, all making the symbol of the heart with their hands. This image features just some of the students and staff at the College and it’s great that so many wanted to be involved and to inspire inclusion.
