Printmaking Student wins ‘Inspired By…’ award
Further to the Sutton College ESOL student winning a Festival of Learning award, the College Art & Craft Department are also proud to have an award winner among their students.
Printmaking student Elena Deshmukh was the award winner in the Textiles Category of this Year’s INSPIRED BY… (THE V&A) competition & exhibition. Congratulations go out to both Elena and to Simon Burder (Printmaking Tutor) on this superb achievement.
The winning works celebrate a wide range of artistic media and drew upon a varied range of sources from among the V&A’s collections. Elena was the award winner in the Textiles Category.
“My piece was inspired by my printmaking work, translated into embroidery. My tutor told me about the competition – he’s a great source of inspiration and he helps us work in different ways. Adult education has been a return to the arts for me, and it’s been great to be part of a group that’s so supportive. It’s given me so much confidence in my work.”
